The Mission of the Literacy Section is to:

  • Unite NCLA members who are interested in literacy issues in North Carolina libraries;
  • Provide a forum for the discussion of literacy issues and concerns in librarianship and how these issues affect the population as a whole;
  • Increase an understanding of current literacy issues;
  • Encourage libraries to be more responsive to literacy issues and concerns;
  • Present programs and carry out other appropriate activities.
