Uncovering History: The People Not Property Project

  • February 27, 2023
  • 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
  • slnc.info/UH-UNCG

The People Not Property project, a part of the Digital Library on American Slavery, is a centralized database of bills of sales indexing the names of enslaved people from across North Carolina and the American South. Learn the history of why and how the project started, who the different partners and collaborators are, and how researchers and students can gain value from this primary source. Join the SLNC Government & Heritage Library, virtually on February 27, 2023, to learn more from Richard Cox, project director, and Digital Technology Consultant at University Libraries, UNC Greensboro, and project coordinator Lisa R. Withers. This program will be live-captioned.
