Youth Services Section

Who We Are: We are people interested in children's and teen library services. We are children's librarians, youth services managers, administrators, library assistants, and clerks. We are people involved in storytelling, publishing, and related businesses. We share an interest in and responsibility for children's and teen materials and services.
What We Do: We plan, promote, and participate in professional development for individuals working with children and young adults.
Our activities include:
- Biennial retreat
- Highly acclaimed Youth Services Author Breakfast at NCLA Conference
- Sponsorship of the North Carolina Children's book award
- Publication of The Chapbook, a quarterly newsletter NEW! Spring 2013 issue
- Networking
- Mentoring
Membership: Membership is open to any NCLA member with an interest in children's and teen materials and service. If you choose the Youth Services Section as your section when you apply or renew NCLA membership there is no charge. To add YSS to your current NCLA membership, the fee is only $5 per year.
