NCLA Executive Board
Community and Junior College Section
Fayetteville State University
July 19, 2002
The CJCS Executive Board met May 10, 2002 at Wake Tech Comm College. By the end of the meeting, the Board had planned and approved a workshop, "Library Disaster Planning," co-sponsored with the North Carolina Preservation Consortium (NCPC). The workshop will be held Friday, August 9, 2002, at Craven Community College in New Bern, NC. The workshop will provide participants with an outline for creating and improving their own institutional disaster plan. Registration information was emailed to NCLA and NCPC listservs, and numerous library constituencies. For registration information, contact Sondra Oakley, Director of Learning Resources, Vance-Granville Community College, at Oakley@vgcc.edu or Peggy Quinn, Reference Librarian, Wake Tech, at pgquinn@waketech.edu.
CJCS is pleased to announce the donation of $250.00 toward the funding of a registration fee for NCLA's Leadership Institute, October 2002. First priority for awarding funds is reserved for a community or junior college applicant.
Finally, the Executive Board voted to author a "Fact Sheet" on the benefits of CJCS and NCLA membership and mail to community and junior college staff and institutions in North Carolina. The Fact Sheet will highlight accomplishments of CJCS with the aim of marketing membership and re-vitalizing interest in our section and NCLA.
