In this year of NCLA’a centennial conference the Scholarship Committee wanted to support as many library school students as possible. As a result we awarded three $500 scholarships and offered three $400 loans. The awards are as follows:

Appalachian Scholarship to Deborah Roberts Hirst, enrolled at East Carolina University;

NCLA Memorial Scholarship to Heather Harley Bivans, enrolled at North Carolina Central University;

NCLA Memorial Scholarship to Kristine M. Dement, enrolled at North Carolina Central University.

A McLendon Student Loan was accepted by Kristine M. Dement.

Due to a variety of pressures on committee members over the spring and summer months, we were unable to pursue other activities previously discussed for the conference.

Revenues have continued to fall below amounts necessary for awarding the scholarships at traditional levels. We plan to update the application forms and online information about the scholarships to reflect more current information.
