Special Collections Round Table
October 18, 2002

The Round Table on Special Collections co-sponsored two workshops with the Reference and Adult Services Section in September. Workshop speakers, Hal Keiner of Appalachian State University, Cheryl Benard of Gaston College, and Terrell Finley of Mountain Gateway Museum, gave presentations on public relations, dealing with donors and exhibit tricks and techniques. The workshops had a total of 50 participants and were offered in Lenior and Kinston, NC.

Workshop evaluations were positive with 36 out of 38 giving the workshop an Excellent or Very good rating. Topics suggested for future workshops include: Donor Soliticitation; Disaster Planning/Recovery, Networking with colleagues, Copyright, NCEcho, writing press releases and brochures, Exhibit planning and design, Web Page design, Preservation and policies related to AV collections, Basic arrangement and Description of archival collections, and Beginning Genealogy.
