The Operations Committee held interviews for the administrative assistant position on July 28, 2004. Bao-Chu Chang, Diane Kester, Irene Laube, Carrie Nichols, and Peggy Quinn reviewed applications and interviewed candidates.
After references were called, the position was offered to Kimberly Parrott, who began work on August 11. Kim has had extensive experience with Access databases, event and conference planning, and volunteer organizations. She was hired to work 30 hours per week, including 20 regularly-scheduled hours in the office. Those hours are Monday/Wednesday 8-2:30 and Friday 8-3. She was also authorized to work additional hours prior to and during conferences.
Caroline Walters created an extensive procedures manual for the office. Diane Kester and Bao-Chu Chang trained Kim on financial and database procedures.
Kim has attended planning meetings for the 2004 and 2005 conferences. She has also kept the membership database and renewal mailings current.
