BLINC Workshop, Aug 2 at Elon U.: discussions with ProQuest & ReferenceUSA VIPs

This free and open-to-all BLINC summer workshop will be at Elon University on August 2.  Everyone is welcome.

Free parking behind Belk Library. We will walk over to the little commercial district for lunch.

9:30-10: Networking over morning snacks

10-3: workshop

The main agenda items are our two guest speakers. By popular request, ReferenceUSA Senior Account Representation Dave Turner will be flying in from Omaha to talk to us for 90 minutes. And ProQuest/ABI-INFORM Business Content Manager Jo-Anne Hogan will be flying in from London, Ontario for a 90-minute discussion. We will have lunch in the middle.

For both Dave and Jo-Anne, our main topics of discussion will be the nature of their content acquisition, licensing issues, and quality control. We should learn more about how these databases work, how they get their information and data, plans for future content, etc.So much more than basic interface training in these NC LIVE products.

(Dave is an old friend of BLINC, but Jo-Anne will be new to most of us. She has an MLS from Western University. She works with ProQuest's legal, sales, user experience, and training teams as the business content manager.)

The remainder of the workshop will be networking and sharing. We will make more time for that than usual, since the Census data workshop with GRS in May won't be our usual format of round-table discussion.

Please RSVP (just for planning purposes) with Steve Cramer, smcramer [at] uncg [dot] edu
