Leadership Institute Report

North Carolina Library Association
July 2002

Assessment of Success
The Leadership Institute Committee is currently surveying past Institute participants to determine the impact of attendance on the participants' involvement in NCLA and other local, regional, and national library organizations, as well as increased responsibility in their library, and greater confidence in leadership skills. Preliminary results indicate that the majority of participants have increased their participation in library organizations, increased their responsibilities at work, and all felt that participation increased confidence in their leadership skills. Many of the participants stated that they would never have been able to afford to attend a similar event if NCLA had not subsidized the Institute and they highly recommend attendance to others. A written report of this assessment will be submitted to the NCLA Executive Board when the survey is completed.

Marketing
Brochures to publicize the Institute have been mailed to NCLA members. The NCLA Administrative Assistant printed mailing labels for all members in the database who have renewed for 2002. Printing also included new 2002 members. The brochures were delivered to the association's bulk mail service. Announcements for the Institute have been posted to the NCLA listserv and published in NCLA E-News. Committee members have also contacted colleagues to promote the Institute.
