The LAMS Executive Committee met on Friday May 12th to consolidate plans
for the Centennial Conference. Our primary public program will be a presentation
by Linda Belans (highly popular at the 2001 conference) on Managing Impressions:
Getting the Library Word Out Effectively, for which we have received a project
grant. David R. Moore II, an architect with extensive experience designing
libraries in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia will speak on The
Essentials of a building Program: what You Need and What You Don’t.
Our two interest groups, for Circulation and Personnel are organizing their
usual discussion luncheons. We are currently organizing an opportunity, probably
within the All-Conference Reception, to introduce new library directors and
others newly in key leadership positions.
Last year, membership approved changes in the section’s bylaws to reflect the current structure and practices of NCLA as a whole. The current Executive Committee, is reviewing other changes needs to bring them up-to-date with actual practice.
We are still negotiating with a potential LAMS webmaster.
