Primary Duties/Brief Description of Work:

The Branch Manager/Librarian is responsible for the smooth operation of a library branch/section. This position supervises the public service operations of the Central Library's first floor, which includes circulation and a large, high traffic children's area. This position is responsible for scheduling and evaluating staff, participating on the Library's Manager Team, assisting and implementing programs/projects and serving on special committees or project teams as assigned by Library Administration. The person in this position should be detailed-oriented, possess strong interpersonal communication skills, be knowledgeable about current circulation practices, work well independently and collaboratively. The Branch Manager/Librarian should provide excellent customer service and engage the community. This includes working the public service desk, answering reference/information questions, providing readers' advisory services, helping to resolve issues with customers' library accounts and helping Library Administration assess and positively address community needs. This position also helps manage branch/section budget, Coaching and development of staff and fostering teamwork is also a requirement of this position.

This job is Exempt and is not subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's Degree with 4-6 years of experience working a library facility, operations and distribution of library materials
Or Bachelor's degree in a related field such as (Education; History etc.) with 8-10 years of management or supervisory experience in a library setting
2-4 years of supervisory experience
3 years of customer service experience
Experience using Microsoft Office software (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook)
Valid Driver's License
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS)
Experience using library ILS (i.e. Horizon)
Community outreach experience
Bilingual (oral and written fluency)
Circulation experience in a library environment
