Research & Instruction Librarian, Temporary Position
Western Carolina University’s Hunter Library seeks a creative and service-oriented librarian to join its staff for a full-time, fixed-term position (through June 30, 2011). Duties include staffing the reference desk, including some nights and weekends, providing library instruction, and providing research assistance to the university community via email, chat, and individual appointments. The librarian in this position will be assigned special projects, such as creating research guides and investigating emerging technologies as they relate to library services. Effective start date will be October 1, 2010.
Required Qualifications:
• MLS from an ALA accredited program
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work flexibly in a dynamic environment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a group
• Strong commitment to student learning
• Enthusiasm for learning and applying technology in an academic environment.
Preferred:
• Reference experience in an academic or special library
• Experience providing information literacy instruction
