Instructional Design Reference Librarian: Known for its leadership in distance learning and its mission to serve, Joyner Library, East Carolina University (ECU) seeks an enthusiastic, flexible, energetic, service-oriented, and innovative individual for the position of Instructional Design Reference Librarian.
The librarian supports student learning by working in partnership with library and teaching faculty to apply learning theories and technology to develop, implement, and maintain general and course-specific online learning objects, instructional modules, and other library instruction materials; facilitates the integration and use of these materials in course management systems and other online environments; and ensures compliance with ADA guidelines and higher education accreditation standards. The librarian assists in the identification of the information needs of on-campus and distance students and in the assessment of the effectiveness of online learning objects and other library instructional materials in improving student learning outcomes. The successful candidate coordinates the library’s social media presence; explores new technologies related to online teaching and learning; and trains librarians and staff in the use of new technologies. The librarian is a member of the Academic Library Services (ALS) Reference Department, and reports to the Head of Reference. The librarian develops and conducts online and in-person instruction sessions and may serve as a liaison to one or more academic departments. Scheduled hours at the reference desk, including some evening and weekend work, are required.
Finalists will be asked to make a presentation during the on-campus interview.
