Head of Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery
Z. Smith Reynolds (ZSR) Library, winner of the 2011 ACRL Excellence in Academic Libraries award, seeks an exceptional customer-centered individual to serve as Head of Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery. The Head of Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Document Delivery will coordinate, plan, and manage the staff and daily operations of the department. The successful candidate will be an energetic team oriented librarian with leadership abilities to collaboratively develop new services, mentor department staff in the borrowing, lending and document delivery units and strive to help ZSR promote its mission: “to help our students, faculty and staff succeed.”
The Head of Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery will lead the development and application of policy and project management, and will ensure that the department is in compliance with copyright law. This person will monitor workflow, troubleshoot problems, communicate with faculty, students and staff about ILL and Document Delivery policies, recommend procedural and equipment changes, oversee special projects, compile statistics, produce reports, and supervise and train the staff of 2.5 employees and a number of student assistants. He/she will collaborate and communicate with campus and external partners to develop and update policies and procedures. Collaborating with the staff in Access Services, faculty and other librarians, this Librarian will implement innovative customer-centered solutions and integrate the best current technologies to support ILL, and Document Delivery services for the campus and for the electronic reserves scanning operations. The successful candidate will maintain awareness of current trends in ILL and Document Delivery services and will actively seek out emerging technologies that may facilitate or enhance library services for students and faculty. This librarian may participate in the Circulation Desk schedule providing service to diverse user groups in person, by phone, and email in order to remain closely attuned to the needs of students and faculty. The librarian may provide for-credit and other library instruction in the classroom and may serve as the library's liaison, including collection development, to assigned academic departments. This twelve month position, with Library Faculty status and rank, serves on the Access Services team and reports to the Director of Access Services in the Z. Smith Reynolds Library.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidate must possess a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited program; at least two years’ experience working in an Interlibrary Loan department, strong computer skills, familiarity with current trends and issues in ILL and an understanding of OCLC ILL procedures. Excellent written and oral communications skills are essential. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Desired Qualifications; Experience with managing a department, supervising, and training staff; demonstrated ability to learn new technology and knowledge of ILLiad.
Salary and Rank: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position is appointed to Library Faculty ranks as established by Wake Forest University. Rank at appointment is based on the successful applicant’s experience and relevant credentials.
