To date, the Committee
has approved Project Grants for the following applicants: the Community
and Junior College Section (1), the Children's Services Section (1),
the NCLA Literacy Committee
(1), the NC Paraprofessional Association (2), and the Public Library
Section (1). These six (6)
grants amount to a total commitment of $ 5,144.14. As those who have
applied for and received
grants are aware, actual expenditures for these grants may change based
on receipts turned in and
actual costs for those items (food, lodging, and travel) submitted,
and accepted, as estimates.
Given
these preliminary allocations, and the $ 8,000 total allocation for
Project Grants for FY
2003, there are sufficient funds remaining for two (2) or more requests,
depending on the amount(s)
requested. The next deadline for submission of grant applications is
Friday, August 1, 2003.

The Committee
recently accepted the resignation of Mike Sawyer, a committee member
since
1998. Mike has accepted the Director position of the Adams County Library
System in Colorado,
effective August 1. The Committee wishes Mike all the best in his new
position.
