Reference & Adult Services Section

Who Are We: We are members of the North Carolina Library Association who have a special interest in reference and in working with adult library customers.  We serve in various types of libraries throughout the state of North Carolina (including both public and academic libraries).  The Section provides opportunities for continuing education and discussion dealing with reference and adult services.  The RASS also works to fulfill the objectives of the North Carolina Library Association as a whole.

We invite you to become a Reference and Adult Service Section member and volunteer to help with our activities.  Why should you join the RASS?

  • To have opportunities to learn, network and collaborate with other North Carolina librarians, support staff and institutions across the state.
  • To participate in guiding the Association’s initiatives, policies and projects.
  • To receive discounts to NCLA Workshops and Conferences
  • Joint applications for NCLA and ALA are available for students and paraprofessionals.
  • Membership rates are scaled to match your income

RASS now has its own Google Group!

  • Consult with colleagues on challenging reference questions
