Happy holidays, all. The next quarterly BLINC workshop will be on Tuesday, March 9, at the Main Library of the Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County. The main event will be training on the Economic Census by Kelly Karres of the Census Bureau. The workshop is free and open to everyone. But please RSVP with Steve at smcramer [at] uncg [dot] edu. Tentative agenda:

9:30-10 Networking and introductions
10-11:30 Economic Census training with Kelly Karres, Census Bureau
11:30-1 lunch downtown
1-1:30 tour of the library
1:30-2:30 web 2.0 training: news readers and RSS feeds
2:30-3 discussion of an interesting business reference question, & BLINC business


The Economic Census (http://www.census.gov/econ/census07/) is an extremely detailed portrait of the U.S. economy and the operations of U.S. businesses, with geographical and NAICS breakdowns. It is conducted every 5 years. Starting with the 2007, data is only provided through the American FactFinder interface.
