In this session, we’ll discuss models for web projects that begin on a smaller scale and look at specific examples of ways libraries and archives use the web to promote collections, reach out to users, and share knowledge.

Rebecca Rhodes, Grant Source Librarian at UNC-Chapel Hill, will provide general information on grant writing and grant opportunities for libraries in North Carolina.
“Special Collections in Public Libraries” Thursday, Sept. 22, 11:00 ~ noon
Speaker will discuss the history and practice of special collections in public libraries. How are they started, and by whom? How are they/can they be supported, but the institution and by the community? How are they organized and run successfully?
“Relicts, Widows, Free Traders and Feme Coverts : Helping Researchers Find Female Ancestors in North Carolina” Friday, Sept. 23, 9:00 ~ 10:00 am
In this session we will review basic laws concerning females in pre-1950 North Carolina, discuss tips for searching public records, and examine other resources that may prove useful in the search for female ancestors.
