“Approach Life with Humor” Wednesday, Sept. 21, 1:45 ~ 2:45 pm
Speaker, actor, clown, comic, magician and writer Al Yountz has been performing and speaking to audiences since 1982. Al explains the importance of humor and laughter, and he explains how it effects our emotional and physiological well-being. You will learn how positive changes in attitude and behavior will enhance our stress tolerance. You will also discover how to reduce stress while increasing job performance and career satisfaction.
“Perceptions from Support Staff” Wednesday, Sept. 21, 3:45 ~ 4:45 pm
This program presents the findings from a doctoral research that surveyed support staff at several university libraries on helpful organizational support that would help their participate in job related training. Discussions on practical implications of the findings and recommendations for further study on the topic will also be presented.

Customer Service is not only for the circulation desk. Everyone needs to practice good customer service skills. Have you ever thought about other departments within your library as being your customers? Internal customers are your co-workers who depend on you or that you depend on to do your job or serve your patrons. Come learn about ways to improve your customer service skills with your co-workers, increase staff morale, and lower staff turnover.

Library Support Staff, what is our future? Key issues as certification, role definition, continuing education opportunities, inclusion in publications, committees, and campaigns. Insights from the Congress on Professional Education as well as information on state support staff interests. Join Alice Poffinberger, President, ALA's Library Support Staff Interests Round Table, Duke University and Annis Barbee, NCSU Libraries and NCLPA Chair as they review state and national awareness.
