Join Karen Cecil Smith as she signs her book Orlean Puckett: The Life Of A Mountain Midwife. Smith tells the true story of a Virginia midwife who, after giving birth to and losing 24 of her own children, went on to deliver over a thousand babies in the Blue Ridge Mountains. In the Virginia section of the Blue Ridge Parkway, there is a marker honoring the contributions of Orlean Puckett. Karen Smith is a graduate of Salem College and is a freelance writer.
