Come join RASS to hear Duncan Smith, creator and product manager of EBSCO/Novelist and nationally known trainer in Reader’s Advisory Services. Duncan will provide you with a reader-centered approach to meeting the needs of your fiction aficionados.

Duncan Smith is the creator and product manager of EBSCO Publishing’s electronic reader’s advisory resource, Novelist. He is a nationally recognized trainer in the area of reader’s advisory services (RA). Smith is also the author of several articles on RA including two chapters in Guiding the Reader to the Next Book (Neal-Schumann, 1996)—the first book to focus on research in the area of RA. Prior to joining EBSCO Publishing, Mr. Smith was the coordinator of the North Carolina Library Staff Development Program, a statewide continuing education program. He has worked in public libraries in North Carolina and Georgia and holds a Master’s Degree in Library Science and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from UNC-CH. He is past president of the ALA’s Continuing Library Education Network/Exchange (CLENE) Roundtable. In 1997, he received the Margaret E. Monroe Award for Library Adult Services from ALA’s Reference and User Services Division.
