Sponsored by the State Library of North Carolina, NC Library for the Blind and Physically Handicapped
This workshop will endeavor to give attendees an understanding of the NCLBPH, its services, and tips for user access. The emphasis will be on how local libraries attempt to meet the needs of local disabled populations, but fall short and how the NCLBPH can assist in meeting these needs. Materials for print disabled readers will be highlighted as well as other services that local libraries may find useful.
Gary Ray from the Library will present the topic and will answer questions about serving this special population. He has been with the library since 1987 serving as a Reader’s Advisor for 9 years prior to his current role as Director of Volunteer Services. He serves on the Raleigh Mayor’s Committee for Persons with Disabilities and is on the Board of Directors of the national Federation of the Blind of NC.
Pam Jaskot, Communications Consultant in the Library Development section of the State Library of NC, will join Gary. She worked for over 20 years in the Durham County Public Library system prior to her position with the State. Her background is in public relations and communications.
