“NON –ENGLISH PRINT AND ELECTROINIC RESOURCES: WHAT DO YOU BUY FOR YOUR LIBRARY”
Sponsored by the Roundtable for Ethnic and Minority Concerns and the State Library of North Carolina

How do you decide what non-English materials to purchase for a large and growing population that may not be coming to the library yet? How do you know what your patrons want? Are there certain materials of particular interest to Hispanic immigrants and other residents? Who are the distributors for foreign language materials? What’s the most effective way to present the collection in your library? Come learn about libraries, including the Foreign Language Center at the Cumberland County Public Library. Should you consider purchasing OCLC language sets for your library? Can you lease foreign materials?

A panel of librarians will exchange ideas and talk about their libraries’ purchase and collection management decisions for non-English materials. There will be an opportunity for the audience to ask questions and share ideas.

Speakers include:

Jeanne Crisp, State Library of NC
Tamara Ruebel, High Point Public Library
John Sundell, Forsyth County Public Library
Gail Terwilliger, Cumberland County Public Library
