NCLA 2003 Biennial Conference

"Assessment in Libraries: Practical Approaches for Creating a Continuous Assessment Environment"

Sponsors: Library Administration and Management Section and the College and University Section

This popular one-day workshop develops the concepts of creating workable assessment plans based upon national standards and an institution's individual mission statement. The Standards for College Libraries (2000 ed) provides the basis for the workshop. The presenters' text, Standards and Assessment for Academic Libraries: A Workbook (ACRL, 2002) will be used as well. However, as the standards for other library types are being revised, using the result-oriented approach first used in college libraries, the methodology is applicable to all types of libraries and participants should walk away with useful and practical skills in this arena.
