The Executive Committee of the Community and Junior College Libraries Section of NCLA met at Wake Technical Community College on May 27, 2004.

Present: Keith Burkhead, Chair; Peggy Quinn, Past Chair; Deanna Lewis, Secretary; Linda Ramsey, Director at Large; and Jennifer Noga, Director at Large.

These actions and decisions were made/taken:

The Committee accepted Peggy Quinn’s proposal that CJCLS present a program, Customer Interface, In Your Place, at the NCLA/SELA Conference in November. The speaker will be Mike Crumpton, Director of Library Services at Wake Technical Community College. Plans are finalized for this program.

Plans for the NCLA preconference on SACS Accreditation for the NCLA/SELA Conference were tabled because a preconference on ACRL library standards is being planned by SELA. CJCLS will try to schedule a SACS workshop sometime in the spring of 2005.

Jennifer Noga proposed a program on the State’s e-procurement system. The Resources and Technical Services Section of NCLA has expressed an interest in joint sponsorship of this program. This program is still being finalized, but plans are on track.

CJCLS will have a table at the LRA conference, 7/15 and 7/16 to advertise NCLA/CJCLS. Executive Committee members attending the LRA conference will staff table. The new CJCLS membership brochure will be available to hand out and the NCLA standing display will be in use. The brochure will also be placed in the conference gift bags.

The CJCLS website has been updated as needed, including the posting of the minutes of the CJCLS Executive Committee meetings. The CJCLS membership is advised via email when this takes place so they can review the meeting minutes at their convenience.
