| Thank you for joining the editorial board of North Carolina Libraries,
the quarterly journal of the North
Carolina Library Association. Although there are many benefits
to membership in NCLA, the one tangible benefit received is NCL.
Membership on the NCL Board is made up of a general editor; two
associate editors; three feature editors (Book
Reviews, Lagniappe, Wired to the World); an indexer; associate editors
for academic, public, and school libraries; and a web editor.
The NCL editorial board communicates electronically and uses the ncl-board@yahoogroups.com listserv. In addition to specific responsibilities, appropriate editorial board members are asked by the editor to jury articles. The editing sessions for each issue involve reading and editing electronic copies of the articles and feature manuscripts. The necessary changes in wording as well as minor corrections in spelling, punctuation, and usage are to be made at this stage. You will find guidelines in "NCL Style Manual," which outlines the rules of usage, spelling, and punctuation most frequently applied to NCL articles, including the specific exceptions that NCL makes to the rules outlined in the latest edition of The Chicago Manual of Style.) The editor submits the articles and supplemental materials to a layout editor who converts the issue into pdf format. From there it is electronically submitted to the Web editor for publication on the NCLA web site. The last issue of each volumne will be sent to the printed for a hard copy of the volumne. |
