NCLA Biennial Conference

First General Session

During the First General Session of the Biennial Conference, a motion was made that the NCLA Constitution be amended as follows:

Article XIII. NON-PROFIT STATUS

      1. The North Carolina Library Association is not operated for profit. No profit shall inure to the benefit of any individual connected with the organization except in consideration for services rendered.
      2. In the event of the dissolution of the organization, its assets would be conveyed to one of more types of organizations and institutions as set forth in NC G.S. 105-164.14. The Executive Board will vote as to which organization(s) will receive the assets. The vote must be a 2/3 affirmative vote. Entities eligible will be one or more non-profit educational, professional or library entities.
The existing Article XIII be renumbered as Article XIV.
 
The motion was seconded and approved by a voice vote of the general membership.

Further, it was moved that the ad hoc Development and Literacy Committees be made standing committees. The motion was seconded. The motion carried by a voice vote of the general membership attending the meeting.
 
 


NCLA Biennial Conference

Third General Session

September 24, 1999

During the third general session of the Biennial Conference, Mary Horton, on behalf of the Documents Section, presented a motion that NCLA support a resolution to encourage agencies to take into account archiving and permanent public access while they studied the issue of the use of electronic publishing in state documents as proposed in the "Study Use of Internet for Agency Publications."

Mary read the resolution to those attending the general session. Following the reading, President Gass called for a second. The motion was seconded and carried by a voice vote of the general membership attending the meeting.
