NCLA Executive Board Report
Roundtable on the Status of Women in Librarianship
January 25, 2002

The RTSWL Executive Committee met on November 2, 2001 in Winston-Salem. From the biennial conference recap, the committee discussed the possibility of instituting a biennial award highlighting the contributions made by a woman in the profession in our state. There was considerable interest in offering a cash award to accompany this recognition. The RTSWL requests approval from the Executive Board to: 1) proceed with planning details of the award criteria and 2) seek financial sponsorship for the award (possible publishing house in North Carolina) and 3) plan to secure a to be determined time slot during one of the biennial all- conference meetings to announce the award. Other business at the meeting included start-up discussion for offering a Fall 2002 workshop. Tentative plans are underway. The committee decided to continue printing its newletter, MsManagement, on a flexible publication schedule, aiming for two issues a year. Current and need-to-know information will be posted on the Roundtable's web page. The next Executive Committee meeting is set for Friday, February 1, in Greensboro.
