NCLA Leadership Committee Report
January 2002

Institute Evaluation
The Center for Creative Leadership has offered to give NCLA access to a leadership development evaluation tool to measure the success of past institutes. NCLA President Ross Holt signed for the use of the software. The committee is seeking volunteers to serve on a subcommittee to gather information, enter data, and submit evaluation reports.

Instructors
Dr. Barbara Moran, professor in the UNC Chapel Hill School of Information and Library Science, has agreed to coordinate the 2002 Leadership Institute. Speakers will include UNC SILS faculty, practicing librarians, and other professionals with leadership skills. An outline of topics and speakers will be available soon. Ross Holt will write Becky Schreiber and John Shannon to thank them for facilitating the previous institutes.

Budget
Dr. Moran will submit a proposed budget, with expenses for speakers and materials, to the co-chairs of the Leadership Institute committee by February 1, 2002. She assured us that the fees will be less than the 2001 institute. Site fees at the Summit remain the same.

Application
The application is now on the Leadership Institute web site.

Library directors in North Carolina will receive email about the institute before the end of January. Announcements will also be sent to the NCLA listserv and NCLA E-News. Other North Carolina library organizations and associations will receive information as well.
