College & University Section Offers Conference Scholarships

The NCLA College & University Section is offering student scholarships to the NCLA Biennial conference.

NCLA College and University Section Student Scholarships

Purpose

To provide an opportunity for 2 library school students with a strong career interest in academic libraries, to participate and learn about current issues and development in academic librarianship during the NCLA Biennial conference October 4 -7, 2011 in Hickory, NC.

Goal

- To provide students with an active, positive interaction with the College & University Section (CUS) which will strengthen their understanding of and interest in academic librarianship

-To provide students with a professional development opportunity that will assist them in building a network of colleagues

-Increase library school students’ participation in NCLA professional development activities

Award

Two scholarships will be awarded. Preference will be given to NCLA members. Each will include registration and conference related expenses totaling $500.00 for each student.

Eligibility Criteria

Scholarship applicants must be:
Currently enrolled at an ALA accredited institution in the state of North Carolina, with a strong interest in college or university librarianship

Application Process

Complete the NCLA College & University Section Application (application). The application includes a brief summary of how you will use your experience at the NCLA Conference 2011, how will you benefit from the conference, and how it will support your long term goals.  Send the completed application to Carolyn Willis: willisc [at] ecu [dot] edu

Deadline for Submission The application deadline is September 2, 2011, and the scholarship winner will be notified by September 15, 2011.
